One brand I have been eyeing over the last few years is The Inkey List. I love how they focus on simple ingredients and allow you to build your own routine depending on your skin's needs without breaking the bank. With that comes a bit of overwhelm to choose suitable products for your skin type, but thankfully The Inkey List team set me up with skincare that works together to soothe and treat my acne-prone skin. My skin has taken quite the beating over the last few months (hello stress and sickness) so I could really use some acne-fighting and hyperpigmentation-treating ingredients. Let's dive into the routine I have been loving lately.
The first product I reach for, morning and night, is the Salicylic Acid Cleanser*. I stayed away from this ingredient in my facial cleansers in the last few years as my skin was mostly clear, but with my recent flare-up, this has been a godsend. Compared to other cleansers containing salicylic acid, I find this one to be very gentle and non-stripping. It foams slightly once massaged into the skin, and the bottle contains a generous amount. If you are looking for a no-fuss, fragrance-free cleanser that gets the job done without irritating the skin, this is it!
I can never say no to an extra boost of hydration. That is where the Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Serum* comes in. I find this elevates my skincare routine, especially in the morning if applying makeup on top. I rarely reach for a primer as I find a hyaluronic acid serum does the trick for makeup to go on smoothly and evenly. I also find my fine lines are less visible after applying... hello plumpness!
Moving on to targeted treatments: every morning, after using the hydrating serum, I apply the Succinic Acid Treatment* on any active spots. I let it sit for a couple of minutes until I see it has absorbed. It has a slightly green tint, so it becomes clear once it has sunk in and I move on to the last step: moisturizer. You can also use it up to three times a day as a spot treatment for faster results.
In the evening, my treatment of choice has been the Mandelic Acid Treatment*, which targets hyperpigmentation and discolouration. I mostly deal with acne scars, so this has been coming in handy to speed up their healing. It also contains retinol and glycolic acid, which promote quicker skin cell turnover to reveal clearer skin. Within a couple of weeks, I noticed my scars significantly decrease. It is such an affordable gem that acts quick - I love it!
Lastly, I finish with the Omega Water Cream*, a no-fuss, calming and ultra-hydrating moisturizer I've been reaching for day and night. It is super lightweight and works great under makeup as it absorbs quickly and is non-greasy. I apply a layer of SPF in the morning on top, and I am all set to tackle the day!
