My favourite time of the year is right around the corner! The vegetables have been planted in the garden, everything has been pressure washed around the house and even the pool has gotten some use with the first heatwave of the season we've been greeted with. Having an early taste of the summer season? This girl here sure can't complain! That being said, with current times, and now more than ever, I think it is important to support local and Canadian brands and companies. I was recently introduced to Beautysense*, an online retailer that is based here in Montreal that offers professional beauty and cosmetic products. I was so impressed with their selection when first browsing their website, with many brands they carry being hard to come by in the Canadian market without going to an actual spa or salon. I am excited to be partnering with them to share the amazing skincare products I've been incorporating into my routine and that I will for sure be getting a lot of use out of in the warmer months.
Beautysense was launched in 2013, and what I find so appealing is that they offer free shipping on all Canadian orders! They carry over 4,000 products from both Canadian and international brands, so there really is something for everyone. Beautysense has a loyalty program whereby the points are worth 5% of your order and they also include samples with any purchase. I also love that they have so many natural products, which as you may know from reading this blog I am a big proponent of! I decided to get my favourite cleanser of all time and also got my hands on some new-to-me products from brands I have been coveting to try for years.
Have you ever had a lip sunburn? I had to learn the hard way that this actually happens and since then I make an effort to switch my lip balm to one with SPF when the sunnier months roll around, which is when I spend a lot more time outdoors. Enter the Jane Iredale LipDrink Lip Balm in Sheer. It has a 15 broad-spectrum SPF and is perfect for taking on the go in my backpack. It is available in 7 shades, and I opted for the clear one as it's my personal preference when it comes to lip care. Made from a blend of waxes and vegetable oils such as castor oil, carrot seed oil and avocado oil, it is extremely nourishing and the perfect remedy for my dry lips. It also contains aloe leaf extract, green tea leaf extract, coffee seed extract, blackberry extract and lemon peel oil, the latter which is definitely the top scent that comes through - it smells so good! If you are in the market for an outstanding lip balm, I would highly recommend giving this one a try.
I have been meaning to try Coola Organic Suncare products for a couple of years so the Piña Colada Sunscreen Spray caught my eye straight away. Providing an SPF of 30, this sunblock is so easy to use as you can spray it all over your body in less than a minute. I spend a lot of time in and around the pool and like keeping this around for a quick, mess-free application. It's made with over 70% certified organic ingredients with active ingredients including avobenzone and octinoxate. Some botanical extracts include raspberry seed oil, aloe leaf juice, cucumber fruit extract and strawberry fruit. It definitely smells like a tropical vacation in a bottle and after only a few uses, I know I have found a new favourite for years to come.
A cleanser I was sad to part ways with in an epic empties earlier this year is the Glo Skin Beauty Phyto-Active Cream Cleanser because it is that good so I was overjoyed to see it on the Beautysense website! This is by far my favourite cleanser because of how gentle and non-stripping it is on my sensitive skin. I will say it is not cheap but for me, it is worth the investment as you get a decent amount in the 200 mL bottle which lasts me a good few months despite daily use. I keep this propped on my shower shelf and it's easy to use thanks to its pump dispenser. The cream transforms into a rich lather and doubles as a gentle exfoliator thanks to papaya enzymes and conditioning peptides and plant stem cells. It leaves my skin feeling super soft and refreshed and I even use it to remove eye makeup as well. I cannot recommend it enough!
To soothe my post-sun-exposed skin, I like to reach for a moisturizer that has calming ingredients and that is exactly what I found in the Éminence Organic Skin Care Rosehip & Lemongrass Soothing Hydrator For Face & Body. Holy moly is this stuff amazing! Firstly, it smells so lovely and I like that it is lightweight despite being so heavy duty. Key ingredients include antioxidant-rich and anti-inflammatory rosehip seed extract which I am a huge fan of when it comes to treating acne scars, aloe which helps alleviate the effects of UV exposure, antifungal and purifying lemongrass as well as camphor which provides a cooling sensation to relieve pain and lessen skin irritation. I love that I can use it both on my face and body and it came to good use when I got an unexpected sunburn on my chest the other day (lesson learned for forgetting to apply sunscreen on a cooler, sunny day). It has a light green tint to it which disappears once massaged into the skin and it doesn't leave an oily or greasy film behind. Another great new find I am so impressed with!
And that wraps up my Summer Skincare Must-Haves with Beautysense! Let me know in the comments which of these product(s) you would like to try!
