My Detox Routine + 3 Super Easy Healthy Vegan Recipes

Yves Rocher Antipollution Detox Hair Care

I view detoxing as all-encompassing: not only is it something that is good for my physical body but being able to detox my mind is also something I regard as highly beneficial for my well-being (and definitely a challenge)! I personally enjoy incorporating more eco-friendly products into my routine, eating plant-based meals and also meditating each day. What I put inside my body is just as important as what I apply to it - same goes for my personal thoughts and the external stimuli that consume my mind, and by the same token the knowledge and information I assimilate. I also think a detox is not something that can be quickly achieved with a magic pill but is instead an ongoing practice that you should dedicate time to each and every day. I am excited to be partnering with Yves Rocher* to show you a few of the ways I like to detox, ranging from their Antipollution line, my meditation practice and some of my current favourite healthy vegan recipes!

Yves Rocher Antipollution Detox Micellar Shampoo Scrub

Yves Rocher has just released their Antipollution hair care line which I luckily got my hands on a few months ago before it launched! I have really been enjoying testing this line out - first of all, it smells incredible (very energizing and botanical) and what I love so much about it is that it features Moringa as the key ingredient! I first heard of the Moringa tree a couple of years ago, with its edible leaves being a great source of nutrients to include in your diet. I had personally never seen it as an ingredient in a beauty product, so I was super curious to see how this hair care line would perform. Traditionally used as a water purifier, the experts at Yves Rocher found that the Moringa seed extract, which is high in protein, provides more vibrancy and helps efficiently remove polluting particles and also extends the cleanliness of your hair, with it becoming oily less quickly. All products in this 4-step system are silicone, colourant and paraben free and are suitable for all hair types.

Step 1: Antipollution Detox Micellar Shampoo ($8.95, 300 mL)

I think I may have found my new favourite shampoo! This light-weight liquid-gel hybrid is not only very gentle and non-stripping, but it also comes in a recyclable bottle. I have become more selective when it comes to the hair products I use, and the fact that this formula is more than 98% natural, with the Moringa seed being extracted using a 100% natural process, checks all the right boxes in my books! I always love when a product goes the extra mile and you don't need to use a lot of product: a little goes a long way with this shampoo and this 300 mL bottle has already lasted me quite a while!

Step 2: Antipollution Detox Scrub ($12.95, 150 mL)

Face and body scrubs are products I use quite regularly, so when I saw that Yves Rocher had come out with a hair scrub, I must admit I was quite apprehensive to try it. Don't let the name scare you though, as this scrub is actually very gentle on the scalp and does not feel abrasive or harsh. The exfoliating particles are 100% from natural origin, and the formula is more than 93% natural, and because of this, you may find a few black seeds in the product. This scrub will go in deeper to lift more suffocating pollutants, while also oxygenating the scalp. Other key ingredients in this formula include coconut oil, limonene and Vitamin E. I have been using this detox scrub bi-weekly and like to spend a bit more time on this step by giving myself a head massage for the product to lift any residue the Micellar Shampoo may have missed.

Yves Rocher Antipollution Rinsing Vinegar Detox Protective Shield Conditioner

Step 3: Antipollution Rinsing Vinegar ($12.95, 150 mL)

Using vinegar as a hair rinse is something I have tried before, but I will say using the real deal can be off-putting because, let's face it, the scent of vinegar is super strong. If you are looking for a hair clarifier that gets the job done and won't make you want to plug your nose every time, this Rinsing Vinegar is the answer to your prayers. Think of it as a shine boost in a bottle that also has water-softening properties, so not only will your hair be more radiant, but it will also feel much smoother after rinsing. The product is 99% natural and has been shown to remove 86% of fine carbon particles. On top of Moringa seed extract, this product also contains castor oil, limonene and Baikal skullcap root extract, which in traditional Chinese medicine is touted as helping to remove toxins. The packaging is nicely designed as well: there is a stopper allowing you to control how much vinegar comes out.

Step 4: Antipollution Protective Shield Conditioner ($8.95, 150 mL)

Last but not least, if your hair tends to get tangled and frizzy like mine does, a conditioner is a must to tame the mane. What I love about the Protective Shield Conditioner is that you can use it from root to tip without it weighing your hair down - simply leave it on for a minute or two for the ingredients to activate before rinsing. Made from 98% natural ingredients, this conditioner shields the hair from polluting particles, and has been shown to reduce carbon particle buildup by 12%. Other key ingredients include macadamia seed oil and vitamin E. After the first use, I noticed how much more voluminous and bouncy my hair looked and I love how my hair retains the smell until my next wash!

Love the Sh!t Out Of Yourself Book Zoey Arielle Poulsen Insight Timer Meditation App

My Meditation Practice

In the morning, I like to roll out my yoga mat and do a few stretches to start off my day on the right foot. You can find out more about my morning routine here! I also like catching up on other creators who inspire me to be the best version of myself, and Zoey Arielle is one I would highly recommend you follow! A fellow Canadian now living her dream life in Italy and travelling the world, her story is beyond inspiring. I like to reach for her 'Love the Sh!t Out of Yourself: Because Your Life Depends On It' practical handbook of affirmations to set my intentions for the day ahead.

I started meditating more consistently this year and this is also how I like ending my day before going to bed. I use a free app called Insight Timer, and what I like most about it is that it tracks my activity and milestones and offers detailed charts and stats to see my progress over time. Not only are there meditations you can listen to, but there is also calming music, talks, courses and teachers you can follow and challenges you can join. You can bookmark your favourite meditations, topics and teachers (I particularly like and recommend Sarah Blondin). There is also a timer and you can customize the starting bell, duration, interval bells, ambient sounds and ending bells of your meditation and save them as presets. The app shows you who has been meditating nearby and you can connect with others by building a friend's list and message others on the app. It's like an interactive meditation community, and you can see how many people have meditated or are meditating using the app in real time on a heat map, which I find so neat! You can find out more about my night routine here.
