If I had to narrow down which makeup product I enjoy testing out the most, I would have to go with foundation. Since I have problem skin, it's what makes the most noticeable difference in my skin! I used to be all about full coverage foundations, but in recent years have grown to enjoy makeup bases that provide less coverage. The "matte but not flat" look seems to be in at the moment, so when I received the new Make Up For Ever Matte Velvet Skin Foundation*, I was curious to see if it lived up to its claims. I figured I would film a first impression video and show you how this foundation wears throughout the day to give you a better idea of how it performs.
I picked out shade Y235 out of the 40-shade line. I had previously tried this shade in the Ultra HD Invisible Cover Foundation, and it's a good "transitioning-season" colour for me, so I know I will get a lot of use out of it in the coming months now that my natural tan is fading. As you will see in the video, this shade is a bit too light for me at the moment, so bronzer is coming to the rescue! The product comes in a squeeze tube which I love! You get 30 mL or 1.01 fl. oz. of product, and the packaging is super lightweight, making it travel-friendly.
"What are the product claims?" you ask. Make Up For Ever says this foundation is full coverage and waterproof for up to 24-hour wear. It is lightweight, oil-free, and claims to never cake, flake or fade. It is also suitable for combination to oily skin.
I applied the Make Up For Ever Step 1 Skin Equalizer Hydrating Primer* to the right side of my face to see if using a primer made any difference. I also applied the foundation using the 108 Large Foundation Brush*.
Above is what shade Y235 looks like swatched on my arm and below, my before and after shots. Big difference, right?

ReplyDeleteGreat foundation.. to flawless skin.. Let's make up.. nice review you have written!
ReplyDeleteThat's pretty awesome! I love that it's matte so it doesn't look oily or anything like that. It's definitely worth it, especially since Make Up For Ever is a great brand!
ReplyDeleteIt looked good on you. I was wondering if you used a setting powder or did I miss you saying that. Also I couldn't tell a difference in the side with the primer and without. Although you did start in the side with the primer therefore the brush could have picked some up and applied some to the left side but I doubt it was enough to make a difference. Honestly I have super oily skin and the primers I've tried have not helped any and a lot of them have made my makeup look even more oily. Then I will read people saying primer is a must have for everyine wanting their foundation to last. That's bull. Anyway, the last check in to me looked more matte than the first one but I know we couldn't probably see as well as you could since it wasn't natural light. I did enjoy this video. And haven't checked for typos but I'm too tired.
ReplyDeleteWow this looks great on you! I love matte makeup! Thank you for sharing this!
