Beauty products fit for a queen? Yes, please! I first dabbled in a few Charlotte Tilbury makeup and skincare products last year and was most definitely on cloud nine after putting them to the test. Charlotte Tilbury is one of those beauty brands that everyone and their mother seem to be raving about, and I am one of those who has proudly joined the gang since that first introduction! I recently received the Filmstar Bronze and Blush Glow* as well as a few of the brand's lip products*, including the Your Lip Service Royal Lipstick Trio*. This was my first time trying her powders and lipsticks and I wanted to share how I got along with them!
The Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze & Blush Glow in Light to Medium (C$98, US$75) features a warm-toned light brown bronzer and a coral pink blush, as well as a mini powder brush. What I like about the bronzer shade is that it is buildable and does not look grey or muddy on my light skin. I think it would look really lovely on pale skin as well. The blush has a nice pop to it while still looking natural - I know I will be getting a lot of use out of it this spring and summer! Both the blush and bronzer are easy to blend and have a slightly pearly finish (almost invisible to the eye). What I appreciate most about this powder duo is that there is no product kickback - once you dip your brush in the pan and swirl to pick up the product, there is no powder that flies everywhere like often happens with powder makeup. They are also long-lasting on me (10+ hours) and I do not experience any fading or feel the need to re-apply throughout the day. The compact looks super pretty: it has a nice weight to it and is also equipped with a mirror, perfect to have on the go. The mini brush is soft and distributes product nicely, however it has to be kept separately as it does not fit in the compact. See me wearing both powders in the photo at the end of this post!
I've also been testing out four Charlotte Tilbury lip products: three make up the Your Lip Service Royal Lipstick Trio (C$100, US$85) (note each lipstick in this set can also be purchased individually), as well at the Matte Revolution Lipstick in Opium Noir (C$39, US$34).
The first three lipsticks you see above (from left to right) are the ones included in the Your Lip Service Royal Lipstick Trio: K.I.S.S.I.N.G Lipstick in The Duchess, Matte Revolution Lipstick in The Queen and Matte Revolution Lipstick in Legendary Queen. On the far right is the Matte Revolution Lipstick in Opium Noir.
The K.I.S.S.I.N.G. Lipstick in The Duchess is a pretty, sophisticated muted pink with a slightly mauve tint to it, perfect for everyday wear. If you like your neutrals, this is one you will really enjoy. The formula is ultra-creamy and pigmented and also offers protection from UV damage. The lipstick also has a light vanilla scent that isn't overpowering. It feels very moisturizing and has a nice sheen that does not emphasize my lip lines. This lipstick lasts on my lips for over ten hours, despite eating, drinking and just going about my day - it certainly does not transfer easily! Even better, this particular shade is also vegan-friendly.
The Matte Revolution Lipstick in The Queen has to be my favourite of the bunch - I just love a bright lip! It was created in homage to the Queen of England, Queen Elizabeth II. I would describe it as a bold raspberry pink. Despite having a matte finish, it does not feel drying on the lips and is very moisturizing. Just like the K.I.S.S.I.N.G line, the Matte Revolution lipsticks are also long-wearing. To achieve the lip look below, I applied two swipes of this lipstick to reach full opacity. Key ingredients include safflower seed, corn and papaya oils to keep your lips feeling smooth all day long.
The Matte Revolution Lipstick in Legendary Queen looks quite dark in the tube, but swatched on both my arm and lips appears much more vibrant. This is a lip colour I believe would suit any skin tone, from light to dark! I would describe it as a wine red with a hint of burgundy. I actually find it to be quite wearable. If you are someone who sticks to nudes, I think this would be a fun colour to get you out of your comfort zone because it isn't a full-on bright red or brown. Matte yet creamy, you don't have to worry about the lipstick clumping or creasing throughout the day - it stays put!
The Matte Revolution Lipstick in Opium Noir, like all others in this lipstick line, comes with a square angle tip. I would best describe the colour as a crimson red. This is definitely a shade to reach for when you are feeling bold and confident! Unlike some darker lipsticks that easily feather and require a lip brush for a precise application, you can achieve a crisp line straight from the bullet, hence you can skip the lip liner. The colour payoff is fantastic, and once again this product lasts on the lips for over ten hours with practically no transferring or fading.
