Darks lips in fall are a thing, there is no denying it. I've always been a fan, but haven't experimented much with vampy shades in the past. Honestly, I never really thought I could pull the look off since I believed I would scare people more than anything. Not to mention the fear of it not lasting and smudging past the lip line and ending up on my teeth! This year, I thought why not just go all in and try out a handful of bold shades to see what I would look like. I opted for the Arbonne Smoothed Over Lipstick in Iris*, Glossed Over Lip Gloss in Hyacinth* and Lip Liner in Berry*, all of which pair well together but also look amazing on their own. I've never tried anything from the Arbonne line before, but have had my eyes on them since I discovered that all their products are vegan and cruelty free.
As soon as I popped the lid off the Smoothed Over Lipstick in Iris (C$28.00), I had slight anxiety. That stuff is hella dark! I was not sure if I should apply it with a lip brush but decided on just applying it straight from the tube to see how much control I could get. Surprisingly, the formula is very moisturizing and it glides very easily on the lips, leaving a satin finish. I also immediately noticed the scent - this stuff smells so delicious! No wonder after I peeked at the ingredient list: fruit extracts such as apple, watermelon and rich butters and oils such as mango, castor seed and jojoba make up the formula. The pigmentation is also on point: what you see in the tube is what you get after just one swipe.
To add a bit more shine to the lips, I finished off the look with a coat of the Glossed Over Lip Gloss in Hyacinth (C$24.00) which is absolutely gorgeous! Looking closely at the tube, you see tiny specs of shimmer which add a beautiful shine to the look. The brush tip isn't too flimsy allowing for better control during application. The formula isn't too sticky either and will last you a good couple of hours before fading.

To say I like these Arbonne products would be an understatement! They are absolutely fantastic: not only are they amazing quality, but are made with good for you ingredients to boot. I really don't think you can go wrong with these if you are looking for lip products that are safe, hydrating, and offer great pigmentation and staying power. LOVE!
What do you think of this look? Is it something you would try?

That shade is absolutely beautiful on your colouring!
ReplyDeleteYou look amazing with darker lips though! I've always admired dark lips from afar too, but this is actually the first year I've actually worn them outside. Iris looks beautiful (a shade I'd go for too) and even better paired with Hyacinth! For me, since I'm scared of bold/deeper shades, I actually dab and smudge out the lipstick and gradually build up the shade to my desired opacity. Plus, since I'm rubbing it in, it kinda leaves a stained effect too!
