La Roche-Posay Make-Up Remover Micellar Water Gel | Review

Micellar water is very 'in' right now when it comes to skincare, and with reason: it is innovative as the formula does not require rinsing. I actually shared my favourite micellar product on the blog a couple of years ago here and I still use the little gem to this day. I've only tried it in liquid form so I was very intrigued to read that La Roche-Posay came out with a line of micellar products, one of them being the Make-Up Remover Micellar Water Gel*. But what is so special about micellar water you ask? Well, this water is super effective at removing dirt that sits deep in our pores since some of the micro-particles found in the solution are attracted to the oily residue, while others are attracted to H2O, making it non-irritating on the skin. Being soap-free, this one is very gentle and keeps the skin's natural pH balanced and it is also suitable for all skin types, including sensitive skin.

The new Make-Up Remover Micellar Water Gel is multi-tasking, being both a makeup remover and toner. It can be used morning and night on both the face and eyes. As it is also free of alcohol, colorant and parabens, it is one of the better options offered at the drugstore. It does not lather, but when applied to a wet face still manages to melt most of my makeup off. I personally find giving my eyes a good rinse helps remove any leftover residue. It hasn't broken me out and leaves my skin feeling squeaky clean. I make sure to follow up with a moisturizer, my current favourite being a facial oil. Overall, I'm really enjoying it!

If you are someone who likes a simple, no fuss skin care routine, this would be a great option. It is on the pricier side for a makeup remover at $22 for 195ml, so that's something to keep in mind.

Have you tried any micellar water products? Are you a fan?

  1. When you say gel...does it have a gel texture or is it more watery like traditional micellar solutions? ANYWAYS, the only micellar water I've tried is Garnier's, and I think it's pretty ok. They're great when you're too lazy to pull out the oils for deep makeup cleansing, IMO!

  2. Micellar water has been one of my favorite beauty products lately, I love how mild but effective it is. I've been using the Garnier one and I'm really happy with it.
