Hylamide SubQ Anti-Age and SubQ Eyes Advanced Serums | Review

I'm happy to say my skin has been seeing brighter days! After a rough 'dry spell' in the last few months, it is finally feeling smooth and replenished again. Throughout the years, I've figured out that my skin does better in the summertime: it must be a mixture of spending more time outside in fresh air and the sun, eating more water-rich fruits, being more active and being under less stress. Thankfully some of the products I've been using have helped as well, and today I will be talking about two new additions that I've been trialing over the last month: The Hylamide SubQ Anti-Age* and SubQ Eyes* Advanced Serums.

The new Hylamide line was developed not only around the right ingredients, but also around the concept of effective penetration, ensuring that the various sized molecules in each product reach and get properly absorbed by the targeted subcutaneous layers of the skin. The line is fragrance-free and cruelty-free and focuses on replenishing and rehydrating the skin.

The first product I tried is the Hylamide SubQ Anti-Age (30 ml, $38.00), a clear, liquid serum that can be used morning and night prior to moisturizing. It claims to visibly reduce lines and irregularities while providing intense hydration to make skin look plump and healthy in about five days or less. Now that is a big promise! It contains a non-animal derived hyaluronic acid complex from sources such as red and blue algae, tamarind as well as various ferment extracts such as radish root. Instead of only providing surface hydration, the ingredients penetrate beneath the surface to smoothe the skin from lines, wrinkles, sagginess and even out the skin's overall texture. It does contain salicylic acid which is beneficial for someone dealing with acne like myself. Overall, this serum has been very nice on my skin, I wouldn't go as far as saying that I saw a drastic improvement in just five days, but after using it regularly along with my current moisturizers, I believe it has helped remedy my dry skin situation.

The Hylamide SubQ Eyes (15 ml, $35.00) is a similar serum that specifically targets puffiness and undereye dark circles. Since the skin around our eyes is much thinner, it is more sensitive and prone to fine lines and wrinkles. Without going into too much detail about its ingredients' properties, the combination of peptides, plant saccharides and active technologies promise almost immediate results. Now, this product was a bit of a let down for me for a few reasons. First, the packaging design isn't ideal, or it might just be that mine is defective, I'm not too sure. Having more of a creamy texture, the product barely comes out of the dropper, contrarily to the SubQ Anti-Age serum which comes out without a problem from the dropper. I think a pump dispenser would have been a better design for this one. Secondly, I did experienced a mild stinging sensation after applying it for the first time, so there might be an ingredient that is just too strong for my skin's liking. After giving it another shot, I unfortunately still experienced the same stinging sensation, which is why I have stopped using it. I've since passed it on and it has found a better home.

While Hylamide SubQ Anti-Age has helped my skin, SubQ Eyes didn't work as well for me. That's the thing with skincare and cosmetics in general: different things work for different people. And when things don't work out for you, they might just work great for someone else!

  1. I love the Hylamide Sub Q Eyes. I do get a little stinging but it doesn't last. It may be do to the retinol it contains. Using it for over a month, I've noticed lessening of crows feet and a weird line on the orbital bone of my left eye. I do agree with you in regard to putting it in a bottle with a dropper. A pump would be much better. The Hylamide Sub Q Anti Age has made my skin smoother. I haven't noticed any other Chang.
