Wella Professionals Elements Collection | Review

I'll be completely honest and say that my hair care routine has mostly consisted of on sale drugstore shampoos and conditioners for most of my life since I'm not that frugal when it comes to hair products (nor is my family... I guess that's where my lack of frivolous spending on hair stuff comes from). I keep my hair routine quite simple and do not dabble much in extra styling products. A good shampoo, conditioner and my best kept secret for nourished hair are really all I need. I recently was introduced to the new Wella Professionals Elements Collection*, which is described as a "free-of" hair care system, meaning it is free of sulfates, parabens and artificial colourants. The line includes four luxurious products, namely a Renewing Shampoo, Daily Renewing Conditioner, Reconstructing Mask and Leave In Conditioning Spray. So how did this collection fare?

The entire line works to strengthen hair, the key ingredients being Natural Tree Extract and Panthenol. The Renewing Shampoo works to treat dry and damaged hair, and considering my hair is dealing with these exact issues from being colour treated a little while back, it appeared to be the perfect remedy for my stressed hair. I'll start off by saying that this shampoo (and the entire line) smell absolutely incredible, and although this clear liquid shampoo does not lather as much as a result of being sulfate-free, it still does a good job at getting rid of any impurities and my hair feels super clean once rinsed out.

The Daily Renewing Conditioner has a cream to liquid texture, and I like to leave it in my hair for a good two to three minutes before rinsing out so that it gets deeps into the hair follicles and has time to work its magic. Unlike other conditioners I've tried, this one feels very light and does not leave my hair feeling weighed down. What is also great is that it is even recommended to use on the roots, which I usually avoid since I find it makes my hair greasier faster, but this hasn't occurred with this one. It leaves my hair feeling nourished and strong and I've also noticed it helps tame the frizz which is always a plus.

For extra conditioning, the Reconstructing Mask is also a nice addition, although I would not say absolutely necessary if already using the conditioner. I've been using the cream to gel hair mask once a week, leaving it in for 5 minutes and wrapping my hair in a warm towel during this time to allow it to penetrate deep into my strands before rinsing. It works quite well and my hair feels really moisturized, so if you are looking specifically for a hair mask, this is a really good option.

Last but not least, and probably my favourite from the bunch, the Leave In Conditioning Spray which has been a great hair pick me up on days in between washes since no rinsing is required. Considering that our hair becomes drier the longer we go without washing it due to environmental stress, this has been quite the miracle worker. I've even noticed it adds shine and a bit of volume too. Since the ingredients separate as you see in the picture above, I make sure to shake the bottle beforehand and mist this liquid spray on my damp hair I then comb through with a wide-tooth comb to distribute it evenly and it brings my hair back to life!

I must say I am quite impressed and am really loving all of the Elements products. I've been using them for the last few weeks and have noticed my hair feels much lighter and I can actually stretch the number of days in between washes because it is so gentle and non-stripping. These products go for C$22 each which is not a given, but I have to say I've noticed a difference compared to drugstore brands. If you'd be interested in giving any of these are try, Wella Professionals is sold at professional salons across North America.
