NEW Make Up For Ever Artist Shadows in I-528, I-550 and M-630 and 232 Medium Precision Crease Brush | Launch Event + Review

Make Up For Ever has just come out with an extensive collection of ultra-pigmented Artist Shadows in celebration of 30 years in the beauty industry and I was lucky enough to see them all beautifully displayed at a launch event I recently attended. With 210 shades categorized in 5 finishes, namely Matte, Satin, Iridescent, Metal and Diamond, this is the largest range of shadows on the makeup market today. They were developed using pigment atomization and water-blend technology, offering up to 88% pigmentation! These shadows are also multi-purpose, meaning many of the shades can also double as highlighters, bronzers, and blushes and when packed on with a wet brush or fingers will be intensified even more. But don't let this incredible colour payoff scare you, as they are very easy to blend and apply very smoothly. Basically, if you are a makeup artist or a beauty addict like me, this lust-worthy collection is definitely worth checking out!

The launch event was held at the Make Up For Ever Loft in downtown Montreal, and the concept of the evening was to get creative! We were asked to create a mood board using craft supplies that were provided to us in a small box and that would inspire us in selecting our own Artist Shadows. Since I am a creature of habit I decided to go for some neutral shades since I can get more use out of them, as you will see below. Art was never my forte, and this activity definitely brought me back to my high school art class days. Thankfully we weren't being graded, but here's what I ended up 'creating':

Next we got to see all 210 shades up close and it truly was a feast for my eyes. The makeup artist explained to us the creation process, the technology used and the numbering system that was developed to name each shade whereby the letter describes the finish and the first number indicates the family number that the shadow occupies in the colour wheel. The choice wasn't easy for me and it took me a good little while before I finally narrowed it down to 3 shades: I-528 Pearl*, a beautiful frosty, light champagne, I-550 Olive Gray*, although it looks more like a taupy brown with a nice sheen to it, and M-630 Sweet Chestnut*, a matte medium brown, aka the perfect crease shade to deepen any look or to create a subtle smokey effect. I am so pleased with the shades I picked out since they can be worn on a day-to-day basis but can also be used to create a more intense look for special occasions. They are buttery-smooth, ultra-pigmented, super blendable, long-lasting (on me they last over 12 hours without fading!) and do not crease on my eyes.

Here is my go-to eye look using all 3 shades:

We also got to pick out an eye brush from the Make Up For Ever Artisan Brush Collection (see a review I wrote on a couple of their brushes a while back here) and I went for the 232 Medium Precision Crease Brush* (C$32). Made of straight fibers, it is a long, thin brush with medium firmness that is tapered at the end making it great for blending out darker shades in the crease or lash line since it provides light to medium coverage and therefore is a great brush to use for giving the eyes more dimension. The handle can also double as an eyelash applicator thanks to its slanted tip, which is also pretty neat!

The Make Up For Ever Artist Shadows can be bought individually (C$25), as a duo (C$39.00) or as a trio (C$50.00), which means you are actually getting a shade for free when you buy three! Custom single, duo, or trio palettes are also available (see below for more details). Each pan contains 0.07 oz of product, which is more than most eye shadows currently on the market, so you get a lot of product for the price you pay.

  4. 210 shades??? DANG. Really like the colours you picked out; I feel like if I picked out three of the red/pink shades, I could make a blush/cheek palette from the eyeshadows! I AM BRILLIANT.
