I decided to get two square vases from the dollar store, to keep on top of my bedroom vanity in front of which I do my makeup. With a few more brushes subsequently being added to my collection, I realized that having just two holders wouldn't be enough, so I took inspiration from a few beauty bloggers and decided to repurpose a used candle jar by cleaning out the wax that couldn't be burnt. To do so I simply placed the candle in a pot containing about an inch of boiling water and let it sit for about a minute, after which the piece of metal at the bottom became unglued and the leftover wax liquefied and could be easily poured out. I then gave the jar a good wash, and voilà - I had a new makeup brush holder! I think this is just a brilliant idea, and I plan on doing this from now on if ever I need more containers. I also purchased a bag of marbles from the craft store to act as a filler for my eye brushes since they are thinner and need support to stand upright.

How do you store your makeup brushes? Let me know in the comments below! :)
I basically store mine the same. I love the Dollar Store containers. The ones I have are actually smaller wine glasses. Perfect for brushes!
ReplyDeleteThis is a great idea. I used a flower vase from Ikea to hold mine.
ReplyDeleteThe number of brushes I have is getting out of hand. I'm currently hosting them in two old mugs, but I think I might need to add a third...the candle jar idea is a great one! x

I don't store my brushes in glasses/vases because my room is really dusty and I don't like having dust fall into my brushes, but I can deny how beautiful they are stored in vases! I especially like the square holders!

I need some new holders! I just use these ugly pencil holders and an old candle jar as well, but it is only big enough for my eyeshadow brushes!
ReplyDeleteI store them in brush holders like yours but not as pretty :p
ReplyDeleteI store my brushes the same way =)
ReplyDeleteOh I love these! I too like to have different containers but mine are opaque with dried beans on the bottom. I need to stop buying makeup and renew my brushes to do a post about this too. :)
ReplyDeleteI actually keep my brushes in to plant pots from ikea: one for eye brushes and one for face brushes, but i am thinking about changing eoth some glass vases because they look so much better :) x
ReplyDeletethis is a great idea, i'm in some serious need of new brush storage since my pots are getting a little too small for all of my brushes!

I do this too! I have two Bath & Body Works candle jars I'm using at the moment. I just hate having to clean them out. It takes me forever!

I do this as well haha!! It's so much easier to have them all separated for their individual use x

I have similar storage! Some are in Sigma holders, some in cleaned out BBW candle jars! :)

I wish I could have them that nicely ! But I only have my most used ones in a elf container and the rest in the closet.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! Such a great idea!

It's actually the original beauty blender! Thanks for following Gemma! x
DeleteMy brush collection that's not nearly as impressive as yours has recently outgrown the pretty white and blue ceramic jar I brought back from Italy. I love your solution, and may have to borrow that idea :)

I see you love Real Techniques, I do too!! I'm going to try Sigma soon even though I doubt I need any more makeup brushes <3

That's a lot of brushes! If you haven't already, you should do a post on what each one is for, that way us somewhat-clueless women can know what we're missing. I have a small brush set that in the same container as my mascara, eyeliner, and some other random stuff, so I'm really curious what all of yours are for!
ReplyDeleteGreat way to store them though!

I store mine in a similar way, it's such an easy way to be able to see every brush <3

I used to store mine in a similar way. Now I store them in one of those clear acrylic muji drawers because it drives me crazy when dust accumulates when they're are out in the open!

WOW! You have a lot of brushes!!! I have mine stored the same way - $Tree glass with the glass pieces but I have a lot less brushes!
ReplyDeleteI love your storage, however, lol if I stored mine in a similar way, my cats would have them down on the floor to play with. Yours are beautiful though, and so many.
ReplyDeleteI like this idea. I've being trying to figure out better ways to store my makeup stuff. Thank you!
ReplyDeletePerfect idea! I actually have a small container from my grandmother that has a small mirror in the middle and two containers on the side I use! I dont have many brushes so its perfect :)
ReplyDeleteI put mine in a highball glass and display them on my counter. My favorite brush is the Ecotools eye shadow brush. I see you have one. Have a great weekend.
