February 2014 Empties

Well, it's been a while since I've done one of these, so be prepared for a rather long list of emptied products that I've accumulated over the last few months! This time around, I have a lot of skin care products, a few makeup items and hair care products, two personal care items and a perfume. Let's get right into it shall we?

In the skin care department, first up is the Simple Eye Make-Up Remover. After trying a few Simple products and being very impressed, I decided to give this product a go. It got the job done, but wasn't anything extraordinary. It irritated my eyes a bit as well, so I don't plan on repurchasing.

Speaking of a Simple product that I had previously tried, one I really liked is the Moisturizing Facial Wash. This was a repurchase as I really enjoyed using it with my Clarisonic previously (reviewed here). I decided to try a different cleanser from Simple this time, so stay tuned for a haul post in the coming days in which it will be featured!

Next is the holy-grail status Hydraluron Moisture Booster by Indeed Labs (reviewed here) - this serum has saved my skin these last two winters! I use this product under my moisturizer before applying my makeup, and I no longer have to deal with dry patches. I really need to get around to repurchasing it as I've been out for almost a week now.

I used the Crest 3D Whitestrips Professional Effects for the second time, and again was very pleased with the results. My teeth did not become sensitive during the treatment which they were after my first time using them, so I think they have already gotten used to the bleach. I am trying to be consistent when it comes to teeth whitening and do a treatment every six months. There's just something about having a whiter smile, it's like a boost of confidence!

A product I was sad to part ways with is the Jordana Best Lash Extreme Volumizing Mascara (reviewed here). I had ordered it online as it is not available in stores in Canada. I really like how it layers easily, so if I want my eyes to look extra dramatic, I can just apply a couple more layers without it clumping. When the opportunity arises again I will definitely be stocking up on some tubes.

I had a small sample of the Chanel Vitalumière Aqua Foundation that I finally got around to using up. This is definitely more of a light-weight foundation, and as I prefer ones that provide medium to full coverage, I will be passing on getting a full-size bottle.

A makeup item I have repurchased time and time again is the Wet n Wild Color Icon Brow and Eye Liner Pencil in Taupe. I use it to shape and define my brows, and the reason I like it so much is that it is very creamy. It's also super cheap, so that's definitely another reason I keep on buying it.

I used up my Degree MotionSense Deodorant as well. After trying so many different brands I have concluded that this one works best for my skin. They have so many scents to choose from, so I am always trying a new version of it.

I also finished a box of Bioré Deep Cleansing Pore Strips. I use these once a week, and well, they get the job done! I want to try a different brand out to see how they compare, but apart from the generic drugstore brands, there aren't that many to choose from in stores.

Getting into hair care, I finished a bottle of Garnier Fructis Citrus Mint Fresh Conditioner. I just love Garnier shampoos and conditioners, no other brand I have tried has ever beat how silky it makes my hair feel.

I also emptied the Herbal Essences Moroccan My Shine Shampoo. I am obsessed with anything Moroccan oil so I wanted to give this shampoo a shot. It smells amazing and has a beautiful blue colour. I definitely think it is worth trying. I now want to try the conditioner as well!

I got to the very last drop of my L'Oréal True Match Foundation, which for the longest time was my favourite foundation. Since having branched out and having tried a few other brands, I have found other foundations that work even better for my skin. So for now it is an aurevoir, but I think there is a chance we will one day reunite!

I was happy to finish my Burt's Bees Honey Lip Balm, (reviewed here) - not that I didn't like it, au contraire - I just have so many lip balms to go through. One down, another 30 to go (okay, not that many, but still)!

Having combination skin, I get a lot of use from The Body Shop Mineral Powder Blotting Tissues. However, after having tried a few new foundations that have kept my T-zone under "oil control", I might not be needing to repurchase - well not for now anyways.

I cannot even express how devastated I am to have emptied my Victoria's Secret Dream Angels Forever Perfume. I got this almost three years ago, and after figuring out it had been discontinued, had been using it very sparingly. It's time has now come, and I have yet to find a perfume that compares. I might just end up repurchasing it from an online reseller.

Last but not least, Lush's Mint Julips Lip Scrub (reviewed here). This was my very first lip scrub and it has converted me into becoming a regular lip exfoliator user.

Phew! That was a lot of stuff to talk about. Make sure to let me know below if you have tried any of these products and how you liked them! :)

  1. If you do find any alternative for the Bioré pore strips, I'd be really interested to hear about it! Also, the Hydraluron (funny name...) sounds really, really good. I kind of want it.

  4. I don't know about the area where you live, but IIRC, Hydraluron is on sale at Shoppers for $20 this week! (OR MAYBE IT PASSED. Doesn't beat the $5 you paid for it, but still a pretty good deal!)
I'm actually not a fan of that Simple face wash--somehow it ended up drying my skin? Maybe I ought to give it another try, hah.

  6. Great job using up all those products! I'm curious of those whitening strips. I have such sensitive teeth that I could never use any of those products. I may try the ones in this post someday now!
