Hit or Miss? Benefit Cosmetics Hoola Bronzer

I'd had my eye out for the Hoola Bronzer by Benefit Cosmetics for quite some time now, and so I finally decided to take the plunge and purchase it. This stuff ain't cheap, priced at C$36.00, but I kept on hearing over and over again just how amazing this bronzer is, so I told myself that my purchase would be justified in the end.

First off, how cute is the name? Makes me instantly think of a tropical beach! Okay, moving on to the product itself, I must say, I really really like it! Despite being a powder, it feels really creamy to the touch and applies smoothly onto the skin. Concerning pigmentation, this bronzer can be built to an intense matte brown, but with a light hand can also give a nice subtle tan. The color is right on, not too muddy nor too orange. It is a great all-over bronzer, and when intensified right under the cheekbone makes for the perfect contouring shade. It blends out easily, and although it looks pretty light in the packaging, it is said to show up on darker skin tones as well. A product that works wonders on both fair and dark complexions? Now that is quite unheard of when it comes to a face product! Having tried it, I can now wrap my head around the fact that it can suit many different skin tones. Apart from the price, the packaging is the only other downfall I have with this product since it is quite bulky. I do however like that it comes with a mirror. The box, despite being made of cardboard, is extremely durable and comes with a mini brush, perfect for travelling.

This is by far the best shade I have found in a bronzer. It is expensive, but I don't regret buying it because I use it every single day! Have you tried Hoola? :)

  1. I love this stuff! I use is everyday as well. I do hate the price, but it really does last for ages so I can completely justify it.

  4. Hoola is my number one bronzer! I haven't bought a full size of it yet, as I have several sample sized ones, but if it came down to it I'd definitely spend the money on it.

  14. Love hula! It is amazing! It looks scary in the pan but it is really lovely on. I'm a nc20 mac shade and it suites me really well. The price is daunting but it goes a long way! :)

    1. I have not tried Bahama Mama, but from pictures I have seen on other posts it looks darker than Hoola. I almost bought it but opted for this one instead since it seemed better suited for my skin tone :)

  17. Hey Natalie,

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS... I also have the princess park ave. one from Tarte and if you ever want to go a little darker that shade does it. I've tried both for contouring and I always find myself coming back to this one especially in the winter when I'm a bit more pale. In the summer, I also find myself reaching for my Tarte one for a darker contour shade :)
