October Empties!

Lately I've been trying my best to finish up a lot of the products I've accumulated (some over a few years... pathetic, I know) as I'm seriously starting to feel like a beauty hoarder. So my goal this month was to use up the most products I possibly could in an effort to make more room on my vanity where I keep most of my beauty junk lol. I am really proud of myself... I did better than I anticipated! :)

Let's hop right in, shall we!

First up is the Victoria's Secret Amber Romance Ultra-Moisturizing Hand and Body Cream. This stuff smells divine, it is seriously my favorite scent ever! I've actually been hoarding this cream for well over three years just because I've never wanted to run out of it. I love it that much! I had bought it in the States and since there isn't a Victoria's Secret where I live I wanted to treasure it forever, but sadly I came to the realization that it wouldn't stay good much longer. I will definitely repurchase this product when I get the chance!

Avon Moisture Therapy Lip Ointment SPF 15 was my best friend during the summer. I am more of a lip balm stick kind of gal, but this lip ointment did the trick just fine! :)

The Essence Get Big! Lashes mascara was just okay in my opinion. The wand is quite big which made it hard for me to apply. I'm glad I only payed around $4 for it. Not a big fan of this one...sorry Essence!

My holy-grail moisturizer is the Cetaphil Daily Facial Moisturizer. I must have repurchased this over 5 times, ever since I discovered it. It is very gentle on sensitive, acne-prone skin, and what I enjoy most is that it is very light-weight, absorbs super quickly, and is perfect under foundation. Of course the SPF of 15 also makes it a staple in my beauty cabinet!

Next up is the Olay Quench Advanced Relief Body Lotion. This is an amazing lotion as it keeps my skin hydrated for the longest time. I use it on my legs and arms because they become super dry come fall and winter, and I can go a whole day without feeling the need to reapply. I need to pick up some more next time I'm at the drugstore!

The Revlon Colorstay Foundation in 110 Ivory for Normal/Dry Skin I wasn't too impressed with. It didn't provide me with great coverage, and I find it was difficult to blend into my skin. I'm thinking it might be because I should have bought the combination/oily version instead, especially since I used it mostly in the summer when I become more oily in my T-zone area. I really struggled finishing this one. Probably won't be repurchasing.

Dove Refresh + Care Invigorating Dry Shampoo was another big flop for me. I used it only three times in very small amounts, after which no product would spray out of the nozzle. I thought I had maybe gotten a bad can, but I read that this has happened to quite a lot of people. It smells amazing (like anything from Dove), but even the few times I got to use it I wasn't too impressed; it just didn't really do much in terms of adding volume to my hair.

Hard Candy Lash Call Lengthening Mascara in Peacock is a bright blue mascara (like the colour of the tube) that I impulsively bought one day. The colour is gorgeous, but I could never get it to coat my lashes completely. I think it might have worked better paired with a white mascara as a primer to really get the blue to stand out and for it to stick to all of my lashes.

The Infusium 23 Leave-In Treatment Moisture Replenisher (Step 3) is great for when you want to give provide your hair with extra shine and love <3. It is very nourishing since it contains proteins and vitamins that hydrate your hair and tame your frizzies. You can also buy the Shampoo (Step 1) and (Step 2) from the same line, which I have yet to try.

A proclaimed eyebrow setting gel dupe, the Maybelline Great Lash Mascara in Clear does a good job at keeping your eyebrows in place throughout the day. It's affordable and all drugstores carry it. I really liked it and have already bought a new tube!

The Clean and Clear Advantage 3-in-1 Foaming Acne Wash I bought because it contains salicylic acid, an effective ingredient to combat acne. On it's own I felt it didn't do much for my skin. I then paired it with my Clarisonic to see if it would make a difference, and once again I didn't notice much in terms of improvement. I won't be repurchasing this one.

Finally, I used up a sample size of the Vichy Normaderm Deep Cleansing Purifying Gel. I really enjoyed how it lathered up nicely and I also used it with my Clarisonic. I cannot for sure say that it significantly changed my skin because I feel I would need to have used it longer. I don't think I will be repurchasing it because it's quite expensive and I believe I can find a product that will give me faster results.

Et voilĂ ! I'm really happy I got rid of some of the "clutter" lol. Let me know if you've tried any of these products and how you like them! :)

  1. I love Amber Romance and Love Spell. That stinks that you can't get it in Canada! You need a friend in the states to mail you some ;-)

    1. I've heard great things about Love Spell! :) It's weird actually, because of all the major cities in Canada, Montreal is the only one without a VS...but they opened one 20 minutes out of the city just last month, so I have to go check it out and stock up!
