I think it's so neat when brands collaborate with bloggers and influencers, so you can imagine my excitement when I heard that Make Up For Ever was having its first ever brand campaign, "Be Bold. Be Unexpected. Be You." which promotes individuality and self-expression. This campaign features two prominent and talented women, actress and fashion blogger Jamie Chung and transgender fashion model Andreja Pejić, who each curated their own limited edition Artist Shadow Palette by picking four of their favourite shades from the range of over 200 Make Up For Ever Artist Shadows. While Pejić's quad contains more neutral shades, similar to a few I own from the brand as previously shown here, Chung's Artist Shadow Palette* showcases a few bolder shades that really caught my eye, which I'll be going into more detail about below along with a makeup look using all four shadows. The looks for this campaign were created by celebrity makeup artist Mélanie Inglessis who has worked with the likes of Olivia Wilde and Kate Hudson, just to name a few.
The four Artist Shadows in Jamie Chung's quad are: M-532 Sugar Coated Candy (matte finish), S-642 Sahara (satin finish), D-320 Golden Khaki (diamond finish) and ME-108 Steel (metallic finish). M-532 is a great all over light peach lid shade for my light skin as it cancels out any redness and acts as a good base for other shadows. S-642 I would describe as a champagne beige with slight sheen to it, which I've been enjoying in the crease to blend more intense colours. D-320 is a deep olive glittery shadow with yellow undertones which I used on the outer corner of my eye. I did experience shimmer fallout with this one at the end of the day so that's something to keep in mind. Finally, ME-108 is a gorgeous metallic blue mixed with grey and despite being metallic the shimmer is more subtle and there is no flaking whatsoever. I packed this shade all over my eyelid as you will see below for a more intense look.
All of these Artist Shadows swatch beautifully on my arm, having a gel to powder texture that blends effortlessly. I do find myself having to pack on the two darkest shades on my lids when using a flat top eye shadow brush since it doesn't pick up on the pigmentation quite as well. With a little patience however, I am able to achieve that same intense colour payoff that you see in the pan.
The full-size shades (0.07 oz.) come in a sleek metallic tin with Chung's signature printed on it and they can easily be popped out if you want to switch the shades out with others you own or into one of Make Up For Ever's custom palette cases. There is a protective foam pad inside which is great if you want to take it with you when travelling without having to worry about the shadows shattering.

Favourite shade in the quad? Defintely ME-108! LOVE THAT BLUE-GREY. Don't know if you knew this, but Jamie was actually at a Sephora in Toronto last week! Not the biggest fan of her, but kudos to her for landing this collab.
ReplyDeleteAll the colours are lovely, but I find it a bit pricey for the quad :(
